If I'm getting close to leveling up and I have experience points that would otherwise be lost, I try to get as close to the total for getting to the next level as possible and then fly to NY. I fight the Crime Boss in the Enforcer Level - it gives the most experience of all the crime bosses. It takes more energy than any of the regular jobs and gives more experience, which carries over to your next level and gives you a head start. It's beats losing 200+ energy points on a level-up. Note: every time you fight the Boss, the required energy goes up. Right now, it costs me 350 Energy to Confront Agostino Cleto, and I get 490 Experience when I win. Use your shivs and stun guns on the boss to make it easier to kill him. You will get them back up to the max 10 as an additional loot item when you fight in NY.
"Diamond mastery", a 4th level of mastery has been added to the jobs in Bangkok. This will provide additional challenges and rewards to players, including mastery items with the highest attack and defense ratings of any items we've seen in Mafia Wars.
E.G. Tiger Sak Yant: 65 Attack, 42 Defense Royal Thai Police Tank: 58 Attack, 74 Defense
You get the Tiger Sak Yant if you are allied with Yakuza OR Royal Thai Police Tank if you are allied with Triad.
Bangkok introduces a new faction system, featuring the big guns of Asian criminal enterprise - the Chinese Triads and the Japanese Yakuza. Each time you are presented with a choice to help one side or the other, you will improve your reputation with the faction you help. Take note, though - the opposing side will not be happy with your choice and your reputation with them will drop slightly as well. You will also be able to switch sides by completing jobs for the other faction and attacking members of your current faction.
In order to unlock access to Bangkok, you'll need 4 items - the Thai Note, Yakuza Sake, Triad Coin, and Passport. The Note, Sake, and Coin all drop from specific jobs in New York.
Unlike New York, Bangkok does not have properties that continue to provide income every hour whether you play or not. Instead, you will purchase businesses which can be upgraded to improve the quality and quantity of goods produced every three hours, as well as space to store them until you come back to collect them. Owning and expanding your businesses is a great way to earn extra Baht in the new city. Additionally, some businesses in Bangkok will produce items you need for jobs, and others will generate boosts to help you in fights.

Anyone notice the Fight Menu in Mafia Wars Bangkok? If you click the Fight button, you will see an image with a caption: Fighting in BANGKOK Coming Soon! My take is that you will be fighting against factions: Yakuza or Triads. Supporting Yakuza will lower your credibility with Triads and supporting Triads will lower your credibility with Yakuza.
